Key to tackling the problem of depopulation on the peninsula, housing is a top priority for CCDC. Working in partnership with the Communities Housing Trust (CHT) we managed to secure an asset transfer from the Highland Council of the former Schoolhouse building in Achiltibuie. The building has been converted into two comfortable flats which now have tenants. We have been working with Seoras Burnett since 2022 to look at possible sites for building affordable housing and in 2023 were delighted to announce the acquisition of the former Hydroponicum site in Achiltibuie, which has been given the new name ‘Achagarry‘ (from the Gaelic Achadh a’ Ghàrraidh – ‘the field of the garden’).
