New Boat for Achiltibuie Angling Club
Earlier this year, CCDC signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Achiltibuie Angling Club, to allow the club to control angling on the Badentarbat estate lochs with the objectives of encouraging new and particularly local young anglers to take up and enjoy the sport, and encouraging and engaging in conservation projects. CCDC and the club will share the income from ticket sales, which the club reports are already well ahead of last year’s with the production of their new leaflet. Tickets are available from Fisk Gallery as well as Achiltibuie Shop.
CCDC was also able to support the club to purchase a new specialist loch boat from Orkney (see below). This has been made possible through the CCDC fund for small organisations, and from SIE’s Bothan Fund.
We are delighted to be able to support this new asset and hope to see many young people and families have a go over the coming years.
The new boat pulled up on plastic sliders and secured with chain and padlock. It awaits its first outing when water temperatures cool down a bit. The heroes at the launch and preparing the mooring are from left to right. Hamish Sinclair, Innes Kerr, Iain Muir, Tony Rawlings and Ewan Harris. Hamish mentioned that in the good old days this would have been a ‘half bottle event’ – or more!”
