The future of Badentarbet Pier and Old Dornie Harbour are one of our priorities and remain a key issue for Coigach. Both facilities, although vital to the community, are showing their age and lack of investment over the years has taken its toll. To see what exactly needs doing, and what developments might be possible if these facilities were under community ownership, we have engaged consulting engineers Wallace Stone to undertake a full structural survey and to look at the options for further economic development. As part of the survey, Wallace Stone consultants and divers will be looking over the pier structures then talking to pier users, local businesses and anyone who has an interest in the future of these iconic features. Weather permitting, the survey will be underway by early February so if you see someone in diving gear brandishing a clipboard you’ll know what’s going on!
